Learn Basic Information Surfing Techniques
It doesn’t matter how good you may be at boardsurfing, kite surfing poses a totally different form of challenge so make a wise decision and get a teaching kite before you attempt with other forms of kite. A trainer’s kite is helpful to assist in the development of the basic ways to control the kite and maneuver the flight of the kite by harnessing the strengths of the wind. The first step to master is to learn to use the dead-man release system. This is a safety device to assist you gain control of your kite and could determine your survivability if a sudden danger should rise when you are surfboarding.
You can learn more about the system by reading the manufacturer’s manual. Take time to study the controls before you jump into the water! Ideally, you should be able to control the mechanism just by using one single hand. Every type of kite has different way of launching and re launching. It is easy to launch, just put the kite in the direction of the wind and the board on sand. The same rules applies to snow or land surfing. The kite must be placed vertically and the leading side facing the wind with the board must be on the sand. To be able to maneuver it effectively, you need to understand the feel of the kite, the strength and weaknesses. Turn right and turn left, do some eight figure movements and hover and lie on both sides, then if you can do all these without falling off, you indeed have come a long way. These moves should be performed easily without having to glance at the manual or at your kite.
Once you have learnt these movements, now you can control the direction merely by the feel of the ride. If you are new, use the trainer’s kite to navigate during light wind. Once you launch the kite, you should be able to maintain its stability. You need to realise the strength of the wind and how to use it to steer the kite into the direction you want to go, most importantly, you need to keep your balance on the kite board!

Using this skill, you will be able to control the speed of the surf. The projected surface control and the speed control makes up for two of the types of controls that is available to the kite surfer. Surface control can be achieved through tilting, sheeting and reefing. Speed control is something every kite surfer needs - obviously you won’t want to be bouncing up and down the waves at 100 miles per hour simply because you do not know how to control speed. When you have mastered all of these fundamental skills, you can move on t discover more elevated skills that will make you a star riding on the waves. Now you can learn to jibe, jump, loop, wave riding, different kinds of rides and carry out many tricks while riding!
